• When shopping for a home, allow children to carry a disposable camera. If the kids aren't with you, take photos or shoot a video
  
  
• Announce the move in a very positive way
  
  
• Speak positively about the new town or neighborhood
  
  
• Arrange a school tour
  
  
• Take the kids to the paint store to pick out paint swatches for their new rooms
  
  
• Take them out shopping to pick out their new bedspreads,towels, sheets, etc.
  
  
• When packing, allow the kids to decorate the boxes that contain their belongings
  
  
• For older kids, provide them with pre-paid long distance calling cards after the move to keep in touch with their friends in your old town
  
  
• Throw a going away party. Be sure to take photos of all the invitees to create an album for your child
